Once upon a time, the place known as “Silicon Valley” was once filled with factories that designed and built silicon-based products. Hard to believe these days but really truly it was once was.
I lived there during the fading days of such … and lived just up the street from a company known as Signetics. Because I was so close to the Signetics factory, I happened to live next door to a Signetics engineer. Said engineer was excited about what was then a new product and provided me the final pre-release specifications sheet.
I believe the government became a major purchaser of these parts.
